Hylfex teaching—sometimes referred to as hybrid-flexible teaching— is a dual modality teaching method that allows students to select their preferred learning environment. With the transition to online education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, instructors and students have both learned a great deal about their respective teaching and learning preferences. While the benefits of hyflex teaching are recognized for students, such as allowing them to engage in a course in a more customized way, educators often find teaching this way challenging.
